How Can severe Blood In Stool Be Treated?

I have bright red blood in my bowel movement. I had a colonoscopy January. I ve been dealing with it for 3 days and I m not sure what to do. Should I call my the doctor that did the colonoscopy or my primary doctor. I think the primary doctor is just going to refer me to another doctor.

Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Please call your gastroenterologist right away. If that is not possible, see your physician.

*how old are you?
*what is your height and weight?
*do you smoke or consume alcohol?
*are you male of female?
*how often do you have rectal bleeding?
*what was the result of the colonoscopy?
*do you have any other medical issues or take any medications?
*any history of hemorrhoids?

I recommend :
-a urgent visit to the gastroenterologist /Physician /ER (if you are not able to see your doctor)
-colonoscopy to check for source of bleeding and to arrest it.
-blood tests (complete blood count, clotting profile, liver and kidney function tests)

Based on this a diagnosis can be made and treatment initiated.
Rectal bleeding is not normal and needs to be stopped as soon as possible.

I urge you to seek medical attention right away. Do not drive.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health.
